CWV Drift Monitor collects no personal data, makes no external network requests, and stores nothing outside your own browser.
What we collect
Nothing. CWV Drift Monitor does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information, browsing history, or user data of any kind.
How the extension works
The extension operates entirely within your browser using native browser APIs:
The PerformanceObserver API is used to measure layout shift (CLS) and interaction latency (INP) on pages you visit.
Metric readings are stored temporarily in chrome.storage.local — a sandboxed local storage area accessible only to this extension, on your device.
No data is ever sent to any external server, third party, or remote endpoint.
Stored metric data is automatically cleared when you close a tab or navigate away.
Permissions used
activeTab — to read performance metrics from the page you are currently viewing.
scripting — to inject the PerformanceObserver content script into active tabs.
storage — to temporarily persist metric readings so the popup can display them. All data is local to your device.
These permissions are the minimum required for the extension to function. No host permissions beyond the active tab are requested.
Third-party services
CWV Drift Monitor makes no requests to any third-party services, analytics platforms, or external APIs. There are no CDN dependencies, no telemetry, and no advertising integrations.
Data retention
Metric data stored in chrome.storage.local is scoped to individual browser tabs and is removed automatically when a tab is closed or navigated away from. No data persists between browser sessions.
Children's privacy
This extension is a developer tool not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13.
